Central Peru Butterfly
Photography
Tour-15 days
Description
Central Peru has some of the country’s best butterflying destinations, and on this tour we hit a few of our favourites.
Pampa Hermosa, Satipo and Yanachaga Chemillen National Park are perhaps the crown jewel of the route with its amazing concentration of firetips, while the road above Pozuzo has an excellent variety of habitats and overwhelming diversity of species from all families.
For high-elevation fanatics (a.k.a. satyr-lovers!) Bosque Shollet is an excellent destination. Although we do not visit any true lowland sites on this trip, we expect a great variety of butterflies and wonderful photography opportunities. Our basic layout for this – and other butterfly – tours is to spend several days at each site, rather than rush around in the typical birder’s fashion.
First of all, you can’t try to clean-up on «target» species by playing tape (though we will be putting out bait to attract bugs), and besides, with butterflies you’re always finding new species even after several days in the same area. Please contact Us!! for Detailed itinerary, Pricing.

Medical and Health Information:
High altitude information you may find useful. Arriving in Lima is not a problem because is basically sea level, them gradually we will go to the Andes, the highest point during the tour is 4800 meters, but will not spend much time at this altitude we’ll just pass driving. Adjusting to higher altitude is a very individual thing.
Some may feel no effects at all, some may have minor effects, and others may experience great difficulty.
You may feel the lack of oxygen, so take it easy. You may feel a little nauseous, have a headache, or tire easily.. You will acclimatize to it by producing more red blood cells, so you should make sure you stay well hydrated, as the extra cells thicken your blood.
Drink lots of water, while avoiding alcohol or caffeine. Dehydration can make any effects of altitude worse.
Please keep in mind our Butterfly photography tour will be at lower elevation, so problems with altitudes its «Cero».
If someone in the group isn’t feeling well during our pass by the high point, we have first aid-kid, this means Oxygen bottle, this help to reduce some bad symptoms, any way we leave this elevation as soon as we can.
There are medications available for altitude sickness. Please check with your doctor. For the headache, you can take an over-the-counter medicine, such as
acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), or naproxen (Aleve).
